2019 - 2023

Some visual languages are invented. This one arrived on its own.
Fritz Anton first encountered his signature forms through years of instinctive scribbling — loose, wandering marks made during architecture lectures, and through an early involvement in street art, where these same fluid shapes quietly became his visual identity. He never set out to develop a style. It developed around him.
During the lockdowns of 2020 and 2021, what had been a habit became a practice. Working with ink and acrylic on paper, Fritz began committing these forms to large-format works — typically between 70×100 and 140×100 cm — painting for hours, often through the night, with no fixed concept and no predetermined endpoint. The process itself was the direction: one mark suggesting the next, one form pulling another into existence.
The Swirls resist easy reading. They are abstract but not empty, dense but never chaotic. Look long enough and figures begin to emerge — only to dissolve again the moment you look away.
